About me

Welcome to Lantern Learning. My name is Hajera Khatun, and I am the founder, educator, and consultant behind this platform. With over twenty years of experience in Early Years education, Family Crisis Interventoion,  SEND provision, Islamic studies and international teaching.  My work is guided by a clear mission: to provide inclusive, meaningful, and accessible learning and support that empowers every child and family to thrive. 

In 2017, I founded Lantern Learning after seeing how many children with additional needs were unable to access Arabic and Qur’anic studies in an appropriate and supportive way. My work focuses on creating learning experiences that are:

• developmentally appropriate
• accessible
• engaging
• rooted in strong Islamic tradition
   

I am also a Qualified Autism Coach, trained in Attention Autism under Gina Davies, enabling me to support children with developmental, communication, and sensory needs.

Through Lantern Learning, I have:

• trained teachers to adapt Qur’an and instruction for SEND learners
• worked with families to create personalised learning plans
• advised madrassahs and community groups on inclusive Islamic education
• developed Bounce and Stretch, my bespoke Arabic–Qur’an learning programme designed for diverse learners

Lantern Learning Hub exists to shine a light on every child’s potential.

I believe that:

• Islamic education must be inclusive, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate 
• families play a vital role and deserve support, guidance, and understanding 

Through consultancy, teacher training, specialised programmes, and dedicated family support, my mission is to empower children, families, and educators with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive—academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
